Thanks for your interest! Yes, we're looking for a highly experienced and/or talented sales person to take our first successes, beat them (the easy part) and grow them into a solid set of kick-ass processes and procedures, aka a real business (the not so easy part).
Yes, this is a position in a startup
If the two main priorities in your life are inherent security and the ability to rely on things planned months ahead, please stop reading this now and do something else. If curiosity, ability to suffer, resilience and clear sense of individual responsibility get you going, please get back to us. You'll find and we expect a sense of truthfulness (towards oneself, each other and reality, learned the hard way), being demanding (is this the best you can do?) as well as extensiveness (have fun really grasping things in their entirety). We know that your ability to target, structure, estimate, execute and distill are as vital as they are valuable.
Basic Profile
What's to be sold? A smarter way for enterprises to source their information needs, from market analysis to simple stuff like highly specialized lead lists. The good thing is that it's easy to grasp if told well, needs no upfront investment and has an immediate cost benefit. The catch is that it doesn't work like the majority of businesses do at the moment. Which is precisely the reason why we are in a position to really disrupt the global professional services industry.
We understand that while it's our job to deliver a killer product, organization and infrastructure, you're driven by bringing money in the door. So your success is our success, and vice versa. Which translates into an incentive structure that let's you hit it big time. No stupid stuff like capped commissions. A team spanning the US and Europe, with first excursions into Asia. People who will go into battle with you, instead of reading Dilbert all day. Mutual respect for results, even if personalities should differ.
Next step
You're still reading. Please start writing. An email.
To the guy stupid enough to do another startup right away. Please include answers to the following three questions:
» How should a startup sales process look like, which metrics and tools
would you use? (Summary or link is fine)
» Whats your favourite scene from
Glengarry Glen Ross or
In The Loop?
» Tales from the trenches: Please name the most epic sales story ever
and why it was / is so special.
Don't worry, the more idiosyncratic and tangible your mail is, the better. Looking forward, thanks for all the effort and taking the time,
The work|i|o Team
